Thadiyandamol

Tadiandamol is the highest mountain of Kodagu district, Karnataka, India. It is the third highest peak in Karnataka. It is located Western Ghats range, and reaches an elevation of 1,748 m. It is a place of interest for trekkers and naturalists.

Bylkoppe(Tibet Camp)

Bailkuppe near Kushalnagar is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in south India. Most notable among them are the large educational monastic institution Sera, the smaller Tashilunpo monastery and Namdroling monastery .The Mahayana Buddhist University is at Sera. There are nearly 7,000+ monks and nuns. The gold-coated Buddhist statues in the monastery are imposing and unique, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Tibetans. The statues are of Guru Padmasambhava, Buddha Shakyamuni and Amitayus. They make handicrafts, carpets and incense. Tourists can shop for sweaters, dress material and other accessories.

Mandalpatti

Mandalpatti Hills Near Madikeri Mandalpatti is one of the best tourist spots in Coorg. Mandalpatti hills are located around 25- 30 km from Madikeri town en route to Abbi falls. A right deviating road just 4 kms before Abbi Falls will lead to Mandalpatti.

Chelavara-Falls

Chelvara Falls is near Cheyyandane which is around 16 kms from Virajpet and is one of the most beautiful water falls in Coorg. Chelavara Falls is also called as Embepare by the locals meaning Tortoise Rock. The water fall is really a wonder full view as the water gushes from the top amidst the green coffee plantation.

Abbey Falls

Abby Falls or the Abbi Water Falls is situated just 7-8 kilometers from Madikeri town [Galibeedu road]. 'Abbi' in coorgie means a waterfall .A waterfall you dont want to miss. The British called it the Jessie waterfalls in memory of Jessie the daughter of Madikeri's first captain. It is located in a private property and decently maintained. Abby cascades 70 ft down to flow as a small river.

Thalakkaveri Temple

Talakaveri – River Kaveri Originates here This is the origin of river Kaveri on the eastern slopes of Brahmagiri peak at 1350 metres altitude, about 8 km by road from Bhagamandala. An enclosure around the spring called Gundige is connected to a small pond beside.

Wildlife-Safari-in-Nagarahole

Nagarhole National Park, is a national park located in Kodagu district and Mysore district in Karnataka state in South India. This park was declared the thirty seventh Project Tiger tiger reserve in 1999. It is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.

Nalknad-Palace

Nalknad Palace or Nalkunadu Nalkunadu aremane), called Naalnaad Aremane in the local kodava language, is a palcalocated in the kodagudistrict of the Indian state of karnataka It is located near a village named Yavakapadi and was built between the years 1792 and 1794 AD. This palace was the last refuge of the last king of kodagu,Chikka Veerarajendra before he was deposed by the British.The Kannada film Shanthi, which has only a single actor, was shot in the surroundings of the palace.

Raja Seat

Raja’s Seat in the town of Madikeri is where the kings would sit and watch the sunsets with their consorts. This is considered one of South India’s most scenic locations. The view from Raja’s Seat is breathtaking as you gaze upon the green valleys and towering hills. This is the perfect place to sit with a glass of wine and watch cars curving up the road to Mangalore that lies in the valley like a flowing ribbon. The government has set up a garden all around Raja’s Seat.

Omkareshwara Temple

The Omkareshwara Temple was established in 1820 by Lingarajendra II with Mumammadan style architecture, which featured a center dome and four corners with turrets. According to legend, the king put a pious Brahmin to death unjustly and the spirit of the priest began tormenting the Raja. On the advice of his Dewan, Ponnappa, the Raja built the temple to appease the Brahmin’s spirit. The Omkareshwara Temple has a Linga near the door of the entrance. The history of the temple was inscribed by the king on a plate made of copper that is hanging at the frame of the door to the temple entrance.

Kaveri Nisargadhama

Nisargadhama is a beautiful island off the state highway, two km from Kushalanagar town and 28 km from Madikeri. The 64-acre island, surrounded by the Cauvery river, can be accessed by walking across a hanging bridge. Its breathtaking beautiful surrounding are lush with thick foliage of bamboo groves, sandalwood and teak trees. It has lovely river-side cottages which can accommodate five persons. Elephant rides and boating are some of the other attractions. There is a deer park, children’s park and orchidarium in the resort.

Dubare

This is another scenic spot located 15 km from Kushalnagar famous for its elephant training camp. You can also go for rides on the Gentle Gaints. It is also an ideal place for angling in the swirling waters of the Cauvery.

Madikeri Fort

The Palace of the erstwhile kings located inside the Fort, now houses the offices of the Deputy Commissioner. The brick and mortar Palace was built in 1814 by Lingarajendra Wodeyar II.The strong fort of Mercara explains the tale of bravery and battle. In the inner Fort, a temple of Virabhadra was removed by the British in 1855 and in its place built an Anglican Church. The Church, in Gothic style, with color stained glasses has now been converted into a museum. The museum, run by the state archaeology department, is a repository of many antiques of Coorg. The original mud fort was rebuilt in stone by Tipu Sultan. Two life-size elephants made of mortar, catch the eye of the visitor on entering the Fort.
